Where work such as coachmaking, book­ binding, and porcelain manufacturing was once done, the eclectic urban fabric of today, which developed organically over time, is now imbued with a unique aura (Jewish quarter, microcosm of the former General Hospital, Sigmund Freud, Althan Quartier urban development zone)! For ten days, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will open up and perform in new spaces, reveal the literal back­ drops, and support companies with long traditions in Vienna’s 9th district, thereby shaping the atmospheric face of an entire section of the city.
