Salut, România! With its changing focus, year after year the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK gives us richly detailed insights into the creativity of another European country. The spotlight onto Eastern Europe illuminated a multifaceted landscape – both in topography and in design! Whether crafts produced in the rural Danube delta or the dynamic design scene in the urban centers of București, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, and Sibiu – design in blue, yellow, and red was represented across the board of all festival formats. For example, with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, the Romanian Design Week, and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna. And on top of these, the projects of the Stadtarbeit were thrillingly flanked by outstanding Romanian design. The greeting and proclamation both proved to be equally appropriate: Hello, Romania! Romania, well, hello!
