Wiener Stadthalle

With over three hundred events and approximately a million visitors each year the Wiener Stadthalle is Austria’s biggest event center and one of Europe’s greatest arenas. More than 10.000 events have taken place the five decades of its existence: The multi-functional potential of the auditoriums supports a richly versatile program of concerts (in 2015 the Eurovision Song Contest), shows Shows (Holiday on Ice) and international sport events such as the annual Erste Bank Open 500. Architect Roland Rainer saw the Wiener Stadthalle as a Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art – and commissioned leading artists to design their works in symbiosis with the architecture. The Wiener Stadthalle complex has on show works by Herbert Boeckl, Carl Unger, Fritz Wotruba, Maria Bilger, Heinz Leinfellner, Johann Fuhrmann and Wander Bertoni.
