Vinylograph

Vinylograph

The Vinylograph is a machine for cutting records developed by Natascha Muhic and Christoph Freidhöfer. One sings or speaks into a microphone and the sound is simultaneously etched into a disc – a 7-inch single. This production in real time ensures that each record is a one-off. Of course, any other analog or digital audio material can also be transferred onto vinyl. The Vinylograph can currently be found in SSTR6, a former record shop at Schönbrunner Straße 6 in Wieden. Since 2016, Natascha Muhic has been working in SSTR6 with Michael Giebl from the network initiative TRANSFORMER and Christian Sundl from the cassette label Wilhelm show me the Major Label on the reproduction of recorded media. Despite the clear focus on music, multimedia projects are also constantly seeing the light of day in SSTR6.
