TU Wien, Forschungsbereich für interdisziplinäre Tragwerksplanung und Ingenieurholzbau (ITI)

The teaching of the research area for Interdisciplinary Structural Design and Timber Engineering (ITI), which is led by Professor Peter Bauer, is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary thinking at the interface between structural engineering and architectural design. Its research principally focuses on the appropriate use of materials in structural design, while also paying special attention to the aspects of resource efficiency, sustainability, and recyclability as well as timber engineering issues. With an eye on the widespread use of digital design methods and technologies, the team of the ITI experiments with form, material, and assembly principles with the help of parametric algorithms and robotics.
