Six years ago the qualified architect Nicole Üblacker decided to become a shoemaker and started an apprenticeship in a master shoemaker operation. Her preoccupation with the classical handicraft of shoemaking also sharpened her awareness of value and quality: starting out from the idea of providing modern, own-production shoe types, Üblacker developed a completely new style of sneaker made with traditional means. After finishing her apprenticeship and qualifying as master, Nicole Üblacker founded her label NUE Wien. She has been running her own workshop and showroom in the 2nd district since 2015, making small series and bespoke shoes of the highest quality.
