mischer'traxler studio

mischer'traxler studio walks the line between craft and technology, designing objects, production processes, interactive installations, and more. The main focus of the studio is the experimental and the conceptual. In its projects, mischer'traxler studio demonstrates that design can be functional, good, and beautiful, not only as an object but also as the idea that this represents.

Together with their team, Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler form mischer’traxler studio. Balancing between handicraft and technology, they design objects, production processes, kinetic and interactive installations and more, thereby focusing on experimental design and conceptual thinking. After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler in 2009 founded their studio in Vienna. mischer'traxler studio’s works are often part of international exhibitions and can also be found in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Vitra Design Museum, and the MAK in Vienna. At the Design Miami/Basel 2011, the studio was honored with the Designers of the Future Award. In 2014 and 2016, Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler received the BE OPEN Foundation’s Young Talent Award and the Swarovski Design Medal by Swarovski and the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, respectively.
