EOOS NEXT

EOOS NEXT was established in 2020 with the aim of carrying forward the social design and sustainable design projects of the internationally renowned studio EOOS in the form of an independent company. The social enterprise focuses on the needs of the Global South and covers areas such as the decentralized supply of electricity, water, and sanitary solutions as well as mobility, food security, and health. “Design for the other 90 percent of society” was one of the demands of the designer and theorist Victor Papanek, whose book “Design for the Real World” was already reminding designers of their social responsibility more than 50 years ago. EOOS NEXT works with many international academic institutions and translates the results of their research into design prototypes that are tested with local partners in field trials in order to establish a starting point for their industrialization. In addition to this, EOOS NEXT also works on projects that it has initiated itself in its Future Lab. The sharing of know-how (open design) and circular design strategies form part of the self-image of the studio and often also provide the basis for new ventures.
