Airture

Airture is the furniture label by Inge Zehetner, who along with the architect Gerd Zehetner has made her studio in the Wiener Edelhofgasse come alive as a workshop, gallery, and not least, a ‘living laboratory’. Following the slogan ‘the other side of furniture’, pieces are twisted, turned, and combined so that new functions and views are continually being created, which plays chaos with some conceptions. The character of ‘rotate!’: a table becomes a chair or a chaise longue a waiting bench – daily or only once in their furniture lives. Whether for outdoors or indoors, a business or residence, these elements create the desired environment. The ‘paradox!’ collection includes lamps and lighting objects: light is emitted from torn off cords, light bulbs burn without any visible connection, lamps lean against walls and fall asleep from fatigue. Surprising moments also characterise the third collection, ‘absurd!’. Architecture and furniture are blended together in a daring way, with floating armchairs and flying sofas the result.
