Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Studio of Experimental Design

The Studio of Experimental Design, which is headed by Sylvia Jokelová and Marián Laššák, is one of the youngest institutes at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. It was founded in autumn 2019, which means that VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2020 marks the moment at which it is looking back at its first full academic year. Against the background of increasing digitalization and rapidly advancing climate change, the Studio of Experimental Design addresses the discussion about the function and role of design in the world. Based on a self-critical approach to the academic, its curriculum revolves around social, cultural, political, and ecological contexts as a means of dedicating itself to a much-needed paradigm change in the design debate.
