VIENNA DESIGN WEEK NEWS 7/24
The VIENNA DESIGN WEEK programme is online. The 18th edition once again offers around 200 events at more than fifty locations in this year's focus district Landstraße and beyond.
Traditionally, the programme is not only concerned with the design of products. In exhibitions, interventions, workshops, talks, tours and much more, contributions from areas such as social design, crafts, the circular economy, art and architecture illustrate the essential role that the work of designers plays in living together in the city and around the world.
The festival is divided into curated formats and the geographical focal points Focus District and Festival Centre. A central component of the programme are the contributions created for PLATFORM by external partners - from Austria and Turkey to Egypt, China and South Africa.
Over ten autumn days, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK awaits around 40,000 visitors in the City Full of Design - and admission is free!
PLATFORM
The PLATFORM showcases what is special: In partnership with the festival team, Austrian and international companies, museums, cultural institutions, universities, galleries, architecture and design studios of all sizes present themselves with contributions created especially for the festival.
The fact that the V in VIENNA DESIGN WEEK also stands for diversity is demonstrated by the impressive range of partners from A to Z: product presentations, project presentations, experiments, exhibitions, pop-ups, events, performances, workshops, installations, educational programmes, talks and much more can be admired at locations across the city. This programme, organised independently by the partners and compiled by the festival team, reflects the power of the Austrian creative industry and its international contacts and takes visitors to the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK into a City Full of Design.
