VIENNA DESIGN WEEK NEWS 1/2023

I'm sure you've all already marked it in your calendars:
The 17th VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will take place from September 22 to October 1.

But there is already a lot going on here: Four OPEN CALLS are waiting for your applications, every month we present new motion design in the RADO Boutique and at a series of Ask Me Anything sessions you can ask questions about the Urban Food & Design Challenges directly to the participating companies.

OPEN CALLS 2023

At the moment, there are a total of four OPEN CALLS for participation in the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2023. The calls cover different topics and target groups. And as different as their conditions of participation are, they are all an invitation to become part of this diverse design festival.

RADO MOVING MATERIALS
We get things moving!

In collaboration with the Swiss watch manufacturer Rado, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will be showing new works by six motion designers over the coming months. As part of the "Rado Moving Materials" competition, they will have the unique opportunity to convince on the Video Wall of the Rado Boutique with installations made especially for the location.

From March to August, a new animation will be shown one week per month. During the festival, all the works will then be shown again - and it will be announced which of the six projects has won the Rado Moving Materials prize.

Here you can find all the details.

URBAN FOOD & DESIGN

NEW AND SUSTAINABLE
RE:FORM

New perspectives and innovative solutions through sustainable cooperation - Re:Form brings together design, management consulting and industry. The common goal is ecologically and socially compatible forms of doing business. In this new program format, presented for the first time by the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in cooperation with Ökobusiness Wien 2023, lighthouse projects are created that show how sustainable design, strategic thinking and the leverage of economic implementation can together make the city fit for the future.

DEBÜT 2023
FH JOANNEUM GRAZ

The Debüt format focuses attention on a selection of outstanding educational institutions from Austria and abroad. Beyond marketing messages, Debüt is about the fundamental direction of design education, the goals it sets for itself, and the talent it produces. The format is both an international networking platform and an independent experimental laboratory for emerging design.

This year the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has invited the Industrial Design program of the FH Joanneum Graz under the direction of Thomas Feichtner as a debut partner.
