To the MAK!

On the occasion of the MAK’s anniversary year, the exhibition EXEMPLARY: 150 Years of the MAK – From Arts and Crafts to Design invites you to an inspiring encounter with protagonists and exhibits from the long-standing history of the MAK, as well as with contemporary design pioneers. The curators of this exhibition are the two co-founders of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Tulga Beyerle and Thomaas Geisler.

The MAK dedicates an exhibition to Austrian architect, artist and designer Hans Hollein. The exhibition at MAK will look at Hollein's eclectic designs, including those for furniture, tableware, photo montages, as well as his buildings. Winner of the highest honour in architecture - the Pritzker prize - Hollein is famous for his efforts leading the 1970s post-modernist movement in architecture from Vienna. To open the exhibition VIENNA DESIGN WEEK director Lilli Hollein talks to the curator of the exhibition Wilfried Kuehn and Marlies Wirth and Gerald Bast, Rector of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
