Stadtarbeit
Stadtarbeit is a format developed within the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK that offers designers the opportunity of participating in the festival with projects from the field of social design.
The submitted projects should demonstrate outstanding qualities in addressing social themes and are to be selected by a jury.
Participation and options for project realisation within the festival will depend on a positive decision by the jury – up to five percent are chosen. A grant of € 1,500,-- (incl. VAT) is available for implementation of the project concept.
The goal of Stadtarbeit is to push through projects that address issues of social development and communal life. This can involve the analysis and transformation of urban and social spaces, likewise approaches for improving communication between different population groups and of the living conditions of minorities in the city. As far as possible, this will concern projects in the public space, but they must at least be accessible and understandable to the general public. This is regardless of whether they materialise as an action, a participatory project, an object/installation or a guideline for action.
The format VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Stadtarbeit is supported by Erste Bank as part of their Sponsoring VALUE Program.
This year for the second time: Erste Bank MoreVALUE-Design Award
The MoreVALUE-Design Award initiated by the Erste Bank is being endowed for the first time as part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
The Erste Bank MoreVALUE-Design Award is awarded for a project produced within the Stadtarbeit format of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. During the festival the jury will assess individual projects from the point of view of social design.
