Let there be light!

Since 1845, the company Bakalowits has been manufacturing Chandeliers and still is in its fifth generation of family business. Chandeliers for the living room in all kinds of styles over the past three hundred years are part of the program as fairly large lighting objects for representative buildings all over the world.

The collaboration with the young Czech designer Klara Šumová has been a stroke of luck so far, both designer and manufacturer are taken back to their "roots”: Klara comes from a town very close to the former glass production site of Bakalowits (almost all Austrian chandelier manufacturers and glass producers have Bohemian roots). The Viennese company takes the designer - who now works primarily with wood - back to the early years of her studies, focusing on glass and chandelier production! Klára Šumová will be working in a very precise knowledge of the tradition, but also in the spirit of contemporary design, exactly as she does at "minimal wood".
