DMY organises "Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany"

Established in 2003 DMY is an agency that in recent years made the Berlin Design Festival an internationally known event. The Festival started out as a segment of the Berlin Designmai event and later succeeded it. Now the agency takes over the organisation of the "Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany" and introduces its make-over for the competition: As of 2012 the registration process, the jury and the award show will take place within the same year. This will streamline the whole process and make it more compact and understandable. Introducing the category „Ecological Design“ attributes to the aspect of sustainability.

As of this year companies and designers can submit their applications themselves, Nominations and awards will be handed out by the jury. Nominated designers and companies will be able to present their products and works for the first time in person to the jury.

All participants will showcase their products and works in the hangars of the former Airport Berlin Tempelhof from the 5th of june until the 10th of june. The jury meeting will take place here on the 5th and 6th. From the evening of the 6th onwards the exhibition of the official German Design Award „Designpreis der Bundesrepubik Deutschland“ will be open to the public. We expect a heightened interest of media and public.

The award show will take place in the German capital Berlin in the future. In turning it into a social event the organizers expect to raise the political and media awareness for design.
