David Tavcar: Surfaces

Our exhibition series for young, Austrian and international design positions in the window gallery of the VIENNA DESIGN OFFICE at stilwerk Vienna will continue in 2016.

We cordially invite you to the opening of the window gallery SURFACES by David Tavcar on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, from 18 pm.

In his exhibition SURFACES, Designer David Tavcar will show a selection of design products and prototypes. Woven and printed fabrics, objects made of porcelain and metal tell a story about production methods and surfaces. Traditional crafts methodology combined with experimental, unconventional techniques. Last, a-typical qualities are added to products - a tile gets three-dimensional space, a crocodile from an unusual perspective is the serial decorative element of a printed cloth, the stepped terrace of Adolf Loos house is the inspiration for a honeypot.

David Tavcar was born in 1992 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and is working in the fields of textile, furniture and product design. He studied in Vienna Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts and Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His projects have already been shown in exhibitions in Vienna, Ljubljana, Milan, Eindhoven, Beijing and Zagreb. The designer presents his work in the context of traditional and high-quality crafts, while a contemporary staging and interpretation is important to him.
