Antoinette Bader wins RADO STAR PRIZE AUSTRIA 2013

Inspiration of the movement was WOVEN GEARS, the functional part of the clock, composed of countless gears that engage each other precisely. The physical implementation of the idea was a blue-green satin curtain of individual fabric parts that represent interwoven gears.

The jury, consisted of Tulga Beyerle (Director of Vienna Design Week), Lilli Hollein (Director of Vienna Design Week), Christoph Katzler (Numen / For Use designer) and Peter Rudolf (Rado Austria Brand Manager), selected the young Swiss designer with her project as winner and justified its decision as followed:

"There were quite equally good works in the short list. In this respect, our decision hasn´t been easily made. What had fascinated us the most about WOVEN GEARS was its contradiction - on the one hand the sensuous of this installation within a very technically oriented brand, on the other hand the technical side of the gears and its endlessly revolving wheel of time. More specifically is even its strong appeal to the outside. The perfect implementation of the concept, the strong visual impact and the chioce of material were qualitively high in the project WOVEN GEARS and have finally convinced us. "

The Rado Star Prize is endowed with € 5.000. In addition, the winner gets the opportunity to present his/her project at Vienna Design Week 2013.
