A wonderful festival weekend has begun!
Dear Friends of Vienna Design Week!
Yesterday we sounded the bell for a wonderful festival weekend! This Saturday will be sweetened up by Asian delicacies, a perfect place for children, eco-friendly inventions and elegant design solutions.
The day can be kicked-off with a visit at the Wiener Werkstätten at the 18th district; afterwards we can head off to the 2nd district where Tapessier Telliez and Beza Projekt from Poland will be presenting a baroque yet futuristic swing, Hermann Trebsche will be telling us Viennese design stories at Ballons & Ballons and the German-UK based design studio PostlerFerguson will be bringing back to life Café Sonja, an abandoned Viennese coffee house. After we have been introduced to the latest trends of garden architecture at Verdarium, we can drop by at Odeon where windows will have something to say.
Marinelligasse at the 2nd district is the place to be for tonight: Design students will be presenting some outstanding projects at the Debut Exhibition; Projekt stadtpark will be showing us how urban farming works and Hauer Rumo will dedicate their presentation to wild animals in urban surroundings. One of today's main topics will be social design: Florian Rainer and Michael Fetz will be showing the results of their cooperation with Caritas Vienna, focusing on youth poverty and homelessness. Supported by the neighborhood community and a local youth centre, Esterni, a design studio from Italy will try to improve life quality around Volkert market. For those who prefer to escape from reality we highly recommend to visit the presentation of Wanderland-Hinterland where you will be delving into the magical world of a walk-in book. Last but not least, Zachl & Hanserl will let the chips fall!
