KIOSK T//WASTE – REIMAGINING FOOD WITH RESCUED INGREDIENTS

T//Waste

23.9.2024, 2pm

Our culinary focus: the kitchen. The nomadic intervention KIOSK T//WASTE uses a mobile kitchen to reprocess ingredients rescued from local companies into vegetarian dishes, with the aim of increasing our awareness of aspects of the waste of food in industrial kitchens. At a series of changing locations in the Focus District Landstraße and the neighboring district of Favoriten, the project KIOSK T//WASTE is inviting the participating public to redefine the notion of waste. In this process, the mobile kiosk is not just a place of conviviality and conversation. During live sessions with Elevator Radio, visitors can also experience the recording of podcasts with experts or learn how to prepare menus based on the leaf-to-root principle – in which food waste and residues are avoided – from Caritas’s community cooking. And there’s more: Given that, as we all know, the best parties end up in the kitchen, the Dutch-Austrian collective T//Waste will close the festival with a surprise dinner for everyone – at a location that will be revealed at t-w.world.

The project is part of the Stadtarbeit format, which is realised with the support of Vermehrt Schönes! - the sponsoring programme of Erste Bank, and was awarded the tenth Erste Bank Social Design Prize. The award ceremony will take place on 26.9. at 5pm at the festival headquarters.
