[RE]TAIL – CERTAIN MEASURES × LAUFEN
LAUFEN
22.9.–1.10.2023
Inspired by Kintsugi – the Japanese art of repairing ceramics with gold lacquer –the installation [RE]TAIL of the design studio Certain Measures speculates upon the future of recyclable products. [RE]TAIL combines materials such as algae, amber, and biopolymers with fragments from LAUFEN products, in order to hint at a near future in which the culture of repair and reconstruction will be able to generate new combinations of materials and demonstrate alternative design approaches. Can repair be a form of design that not only lends our objects value and beauty, but also contributes to a future that is mindful of lifecycles, material ecologies, and reuse?
A talk on the subject of “new land” featuring the architecture offices O&O Baukunst, smartvoll, and RLP Rüdiger Lainer + Partner takes place in the LAUFEN space Wien on 25.9. at 6.30pm. Registration is required.
