The story spread around the world: When magdas HOTEL opened its doors in the Wiener Prater in 2015, the innovative social business of Caritas in the Archdiocese of Vienna created international headlines – media in the USA, Europe, and as far afield as Asia reported about this hotel, in which refugees themselves were becoming the hosts. Since mid-October 2022, the hotel that was originally only planned as a pop-up has been welcoming guests from all around the world to its new location in a former seminary at Ungargasse 38 in the district of Landstraße, where it focuses on both social and ecological sustainability. The team is marking the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK by returning to its initial location at Laufbergergasse 12, where it is serving delicacies that are as diverse as its members.
