POJANGMACHA – STREET FOOD THAT LOOKS BEYOND THE HORIZON

KIM+HEEP

16.–25.9.2022

Korean street food meets Viennese sausage stand: The teams from the studio KIM+HEEP and the restaurant KOMMOD have jointly created a street food stand for the Festival Headquarters on the GSTÄTTN to investigate how social interaction can be encouraged by good, uncomplicated dishes. During the lockdowns of recent years, the two teams have learnt a bitter lesson about the strength of our general yearning for a snack culture that looks beyond the horizon. This is exactly where this cooperative project would like to start, as a means of contributing to the emergence of a new street food culture in Vienna. The stand developed by KIM+HEEP refers, in design terms, to the Korean Pojangmacha (a small, often tent-like kiosk) and was built as part of a workshop with students of the Design Investigations course (professor Anab Jain) of the University of Applied Arts.
