The OPEN FURNISHINGS showcase follows a manifesto about open production and knowledge transfer that is inspired by Enzo Mari’s vision of Autoprogettazione. It is based on four principles:

1. Share knowledge, in order to be able to produce autonomously.
2. Transport information, rather than goods.
3. Allow projects to speak for themselves and their ideas.
4. Design is only design if it shares knowledge.

Students of the Industrial Products Design Course led by Ivano Vianello and Laura Bortoloni designed twelve seating arrangements for external areas according to these principles. The furniture is being presented, along with its assembly instructions, in the Festival Headquarters in the GASSE.
