Johannes Rass’ “LUMEN Paneels” oscillate between lighting art and design objects. Placed on the wall, they produce a spatial light, an illuminated composition of fleeting colors, geometrical patterns, and movements – set free by high-resolution images and video sequences. The animations, the digital content (MLDs – Moving Light Drawings), represent the artistic investigation of light as a medium. In the Festival Headquarters in the GASSE, the panels are used as powerfully illuminated signs. The animations were designed by Christof Nardin, the art director of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, and his team.
