VIBRANT 01: VERSATILITY

Vibrant Fields, TU Wien, Forschungsbereich für interdisziplinäre Tragwerksplanung und Ingenieurholzbau (ITI), Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien

24.9.–3.10.2021

The research project Vibrant Fields – which is based at the Institute of Energy Design of the University of Applied Arts and is supported by the PEEK Program of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) – explores climate change using artistic means. At the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the project team from Vibrant Fields and the Department of Structural Design and Timber Engineering of the TU Wien are presenting an installation that is conceived to enable us to grasp both the transient nature of energy and the versatility of material. A constructed microcosmos portrays a range of climate zones and seeks to imitate the interaction between humans and their built environment. The exhibited wax structures react to changes in the climate as a means of demonstrating a design approach that is inherent to a constantly changing unstable system.
