New Design University (NDU) St. Pölten

24.9.–3.10.2021

The ongoing pandemic has strongly shaped teaching and learning experiences in the educational sector. In the summer semester of 2021, the students of the bachelor’s course Manual & Material Culture at the New Design University (NDU) St. Pölten intensively addressed the questions of how knowledge can be communicated, what is required in order to be able to study design independent of location, and how such remote study can be more than just the widespread practice of online teaching. The students developed a collective design and a functioning prototype for a Nomadic University that will be studied and tested in depth as part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. For the duration of the festival, the students are using this to create a temporary learning environment in the Northwest Station complex.
