24.9.–3.10.2021

Jakob Lena Knebl will occupy the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2022, together with Ashley Hans Scheirl. A central role in the development of their exhibition is being played by their cooperation with Austrian crafts-based companies. With the objective of also showing excerpts from the Biennale program in Vienna as a means of turning the spotlight onto the interrelation between art and handicraft, the created objects will be exhibited in local workshops and showrooms in parallel with their presentation in Venice. For example, Knebl has developed an armchair in the form of a hand adorned with over-dimensioned rings and bracelets together with the traditional Viennese company Kohlmaier. To mark the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the seating object is on show in Kohlmaier’s streetfront project room, which also means that it can be seen right round the clock.
