Vöslauer invited two design studios to help find out how returnable crates for glass bottles could be designed to sustainably simplify and enrich our daily lives. Another part of the design task was to imagine how the mineral water crate could become a significant element in a modern living room, while also offering at least one additional function. Only sustainable materials were to be used in this process. As a result, the “Water Table” by Studio Spezial is entirely produced from recycled Vöslauer screw caps. It stands firmly in the coffee table tradition and enables the returnable crate to be elegantly stored while also remaining in easy reach. Conversely, in the design by dottings Industrial Design, this becomes a storage surface and a stool for living, working, or external spaces. The “Split Box Cover” is made of Bananatex® and wood.
