“The conceptual and primarily location-specific interventions of Petra Gell invite visitors of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2021 to enter into a discourse with space. The focus of this discourse is the impact of space on our perception and the question of how we conceive or process this into a representation of the given. The artist thinks beyond the supposed barriers between the disciplines and combines painting, architecture, and design in a playful and yet powerful way. Here, the medium of installation is reimagined further from the perspective of painting: Geometrical forms, gaudily colorful surfaces, drawn, painted, or pasted lines, which sometimes intensify to form a grid, provide new stimuli and encourage us to engage in a sustainable investigation of space.” (Paula Marschalek)
