ARCH ON WALK: BRIGITTENAU #2 – OTTO WAGNER AUF DER INSEL

ARCH ON TOUR, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

1.10.2021, 2.45pm–7pm

This tour begins at precisely the point where the Danube and the Danube Canal part and agree to meet again a little further downstream: on the Schemerlbrücke. Passing the two iconic bronze lions, participants will cross onto the “island of Brigittenau”, where they will visit Otto Wagner’s Nussdorf weir and lock, whose magnificent centerpiece is the secessionist administration building. Following the visit to the technical facility, the tour will continue to Brigittaplatz, with its imposing district offices, to Friedrich von Schmidt’s Brigittakirche, and to further architectural gems as well as selected temporary interventions of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in the Focus District. The tour ends with a short introduction to the Festival Headquarters.
