DESIGN EVERYDAY-POP-UP-SHOP

QWSTION

25.9.–3.10.2020

Got a question? Questions about local, everyday design products were answered at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2020 not only in the Festival Headquarters in Meidling but also in the QWSTION store in the Seventh District. Every year, the initiative DESIGN EVERYDAY – DESIGN FOR DAILY USE sheds light on the highly varied and internationally admired work of Austria’s designers and illustrates the relevance of good design for everyday objects. The aim of the initiative is to raise the profile of Austrian design at home and abroad. In addition to the exhibition in the Amtshaus Theresienbadgasse, a new feature this year was the opportunity to directly acquire a selection of objects in a pop-up shop of the Austro-Swiss bag label and winner of the Design Prize Switzerland 2019. This selection included products from bonpart with DANIEL édition, Marco Dessí, Patrycja Domanska with GOODGOODs, Harald Gründl (EOOS) with Nuki, Louisa Köber with Umbra, Sebastian Leitinger and Markus Wilpinger with Glein, mischer’traxler studio with PCM, MO-NI-KA, Robert Rüf with Wittmann 4644, Johannes Scherr with Zeppy, Klemens Schillinger with hem, Silhouette Design Team with neubau eyewear, kollektiv plus zwei with uniQum, Walking Chair Design Studio with Vöslauer, Vandasye with Glashütte Comploj, and QWSTION.

In addition to this, there was an online meeting with and for designers, in which Viennese design companies presented the projects and products from their presentation. In a discussion with Christian Kaegi (QWSTION), Elisabeth Noever-Ginthör (Vienna Business Agency), and the public, the curators Georg Schnitzer and Peter Umgeher (Vandasye) shed light on the challenges encountered by designers in production processes and shared their own personal experiences and learning.
