DESIGNING REALITIES CONFERENCE 5: DATABAR

Whoever wanted to continue a discussion in comfortable surroundings after an intense afternoon at the conference, which offered plenty of input from various fields relating to extended realities, or just have a drink was confronted with another installation. Jakob Glasner’s DATABAR, manned by performers from Planetenparty Prinzip, employed a dystopian scenario to put its finger on one of the sensitive spots of our daily digital life: trading with personal data. Whoever wanted to order a drink at the bar was forced to supply more and more valuable information. But this data wasn’t sold: Paul Wolff used it to create a soundscape. And don’t forget: There’s no reason not to trust the DATABAR!
