Water is the source of all life. And clean drinking water is one of the Earth’s most valuable resources. This is a fact that deserves more consideration. Inspired by the preciousness of nature and Austria’s presidency of the EU Council, the designer Miki Martinek developed a set of water glasses called “Blaues Gold.” At daily water tastings, the festival veteran, in the same way as in past years, didn’t miss the opportunity to give a personal report on the background of her design project – from the initial idea for a water glass in 2006 to the creation of the sustainable packaging in 2018.
