By definition, an ornament is a repeating, often abstract or abstracted pattern. Ornaments can be found on textiles, buildings, wallpaper and – in this case – in the form of matte-black Fedrigoni high-quality paper on the walls of an exhibition space. In a course at Graz’s Technical University, numerous variations of and different styles of displaying ornaments were the focus. Students developed their own cut, bent, engraved and grid variants, forming ensembles of ornamental groups that could be viewed at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2017 in Fedrigoni’s Vienna showroom.
