Inspired by the English verb “to mesh,” the name of the Viennese fashion label meshit, which Karak convinced to become a partner in 2017, was programmatic. Characterized by the connection and combination of seemingly contrary elements, a traditional technique using wooden models was employed in the ProtoTypen workshop to print various fabrics with the ornaments made by Vorarlberg’s tile manufacturer Karak and then processed further. The space, a rustic back-alley workshop in Vienna’s 15th district heated with a wood-burning stove, did its part in making the experience unforgettable. Of course, the almost alchemistic gin and tonic machine also played a role.
