Busy Kardinal-Rauscher-Platz surrounding the neo-Gothic brick church near Johnstraße seems like a biotope for all kinds of social milieus. Harmonizing the types of worlds to be found here was the goal of the participative project LEBENSWELTEN, which focused on examining the theme of dementia through art and design. Beginning at the district’s nursing home, Ingrid Leodolter Haus, workshops in the public space were intended to identify commonalities, synergies and connections between individuals, whether or not they suffer from dementia, arouse empathy, and link them to create a language of understanding and cooperation. Design objects and unconventional communication strategies serve the ideal of one world!
