29.9.–8.10.2017

Starting out from the project Langsames Licht / Slow Light in the Wachau region, for which the artist produced a chandelier in 2015, Siegrun Appelt has made other objects in Czech glassworks in the glassmaking region of North Bohemia. In 2016, Appelt worked for instance with OLED technology, leading its planar light through soberly cut glass blocks. The latest objects are a mixture of vase, lamp, and artifact. All pieces are elaborately fashioned and consist of thick glass, which because of its special cuts has a specific reflection characteristic. The objects have an intentionally “unfinished” character, which makes the molded blank remain recognizable as such.
