VIENNA DESIGN WEEK SAFARI - 2
Villa Tugendhat, VIENNA DESIGN OFFICE
2.10.2016, 11am–8.30pm
The villa of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat in Brno,
the Czech Republic, was built in 1929/1930
after designs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
and is today a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. A monument of modern architecture!
Comprehensive renovations and restorations
between 2010 and 2012 have completely
re-established the building’s original appearance
and that of the adjacent garden. The
interiors are now adorned with exact replicas
of the original furnishings; an exhibition about
the architect and the owner couple provide
further insights. The villa is opening its gates
and doors especially for the VIENNA DESIGN
WEEK on three dates.
