magdas Design – a new social business run by the Vienna Caritas – invites both designers and NDU students to design small products that can be made in the Caritas workshops in charitable and non-profit employment projects and subsequently offered for sale. Pre-eminent here is not the product and its sale, but the socio-economic context, production conditions, and the people involved. The exhibition sketches the process of development and shows students’ prototypes, many of which are adopted into the magdas Design range.
