PIEDECK: INVISIBLE WALLS

FH Oberösterreich – Campus Hagenberg

30.9.–9.10.2016

Digitalization is here to stay. There’s no question about it. But the concrete opportunities and possibilities offered for instance by co-located interactive spaces were explored by the research group Playful Interactive Environments (PIE) with their experimental interaction space PIEdeck. Here, real and virtual worlds were fused together: Equipped with virtual reality headsets, up to 25 people moved simultaneously in the space around them, influenced it by means
of a precise laser tracking system, and thus entered into virtual and real inter-action. In short: The PIEdeck application enabled them to overcome invisible walls – something that was further explored on a theoretical level in the following talk.
