Among other aspects, excursions have the function of leaving familiar environments and discovering new ones on the way. This was the scenario of a journey on the Cityjet and subsequent visit to the production shed in Jedlersdorf, Vienna. Klaus Garstenauer (Director of Suburban and Regional Transport, ÖBB) and Daniel Huber (spirit design) wasted no time and headed straight into medias res to explain how the new series correspond to current demands of smart
mobility in the urban and suburban space – whether branding and exterior design, or lighting design, interior furnishings, and seating. A design trip – in the truest sense of the word.
