CITY ROOMS. KUEHN MALVEZZI

Artek

30.9.–8.10.2016

Let’s have a kiki! The islandtype seating installation by the Berlin architecture bureau of Kuehn Malvezzi brought an eye-catching graphic landscape to life in the Vitra Showroom. Central cubes, inverted surfaces, and massive spaces formed the striking setting for the Kiki Collection by Artek, created in 1960 by the Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara and now redesigned for Kvadrat with fabrics by Raf Simons.
Sometimes with surprising contrasts, sometimes homogeneous and monochrome – the playfully arranged furniture clusters have been just as much influenced by modernist interior design as they have by pop art and  contemporary art. No wonder that this setting – quite in the spirit of the “Kiki” concept – was the perfect place for an illustrious and fun encounter during the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
