Focus District

From Passionswege to Stadtarbeit, from product design to culinary matters, from the Central Station to Oberlaa – this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK focus district was well worth exploring and more multifaceted than in hardly any other year. With its 190.000 residents Favoriten is Vienna’s most densely populated urban district – a small city within a city. For ten whole days, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK acted in this heterogeneous microcosm as its stage, supported local business enterprises, and spurred on the action, hardly stopping at the city borders. This year’s Festival Headquarters in the Brotfabrik Wien transformed Favoriten into the temporary hub and pivot of design.
