Of Donkeys and Basilisks – Low Tech Prototyping and the Process of Design
mostlikely
28.9.–7.10.2012
During the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the group mostlikely are reproducing the Vienna Basilisk, now mouldered into stone, as a paper form five metres tall. In order to be able to produce technically complex forms rapidly themselves, they are using low polygon modelling – the 3D computer technology implemented for filmic visual effects – likewise low tech prototyping. The Basilisk is constructed out of smaller individual components, which can be bought at the finissage and find a new function as lamp or mask. A small collection is already on offer with the label “Donkey&Friends”.
