Buying for the Rubbish Dump (documentary film)

Wear and tear is pre-programmed in many products. Whether lamp bulbs, computers or mobile phones, the customer is persuaded not to have a defective device repaired, but to discard the old and buy a new one. This intentional, limited service life is called “built-in obsolescence”. The documentary addresses this phenomenon and casts a critical glance at the modern throwaway society. A talk with the director Cosima Dannoritzer follows the film.
