Border Areas. On the Exhibition Corrispondenze impreviste

Italienisches Kulturinstitut Wien

4.10.2011, 7pm–9pm

To mark the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification and as its contribution to Italy’s pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition – the Venice Biennale 2011, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna is showing the exhibition Corrispondenze impreviste in its interior and exterior space. Installations by Italian artists living in Vienna – Michael Obrist and Peter Zoderer (feld72); Marco Dessí, Luca Paschini, Karl Emilio Pircher (Walking-Chair); and Giulio Polita and Esther Stocker.

The artists reflect new dimensions of their cultural identity in an interplay between their Italian origins and working experience in Austria. In the space-related works, the boundaries between art and the disciplines of architecture and design are blurred. These aspects
will be topics covered by Tulga Beyerle talking with the artists and
the curator, Claudia Maria Walther.

The exhibition is on view until 30 November 2011.
