MAK DESIGN NITE: First Supper

On the occasion of the MAK DESIGN NITE on 7 October 2008, Berlin-based designer Jerszy Seymour invites the audience to First Supper - an extraordinary dinner. The “design situation” which Jerszy Seymour creates, critically withdraws from the notion of design as the commodification of everyday objects and life-style accessories: Instead of focusing on the production of a commodity – a designer-artifact – the center of attention will be the act of fabricating itself and the discussion of the occasion. First Supper is an experiment which, in the context of a culinary setting, relates material, technology, usage, consumerism, economics, religion and politics to the process of creating, in which these areas become manifest as design.
