Carpetplots! Design Initiative for Floors & Walls

As part of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK prodomo is presenting a special edition of design carpets made with a special technology by the producer ege, under the title "Carpetplots! – Design Initiative for Floors & Walls". PRODOMO invited six Austrian creative talents to produce one design each.

So what does carpetplots or carpets to plot now mean? This production principle can best be compared with an inkjet printer. The colours are "printed" on a carpet according to specifications through fine jets under high pressure, whereby the inks penetrate deep into the fibres. The technique lives up to the highest standards of quality and furthermore makes possible completely new stagings of floors and walls.

The presentation, curated by DANKLHAMPEL Design, is showing carpets from Destilat, Andreas Leikauf, Marie Mehrbach, Polka, Soda Designers and Walking Chair Design Studio. The carpets, which have each been produced as a limited edition of 10, will be on show to the public for the first time at prodomowindows on 8 October. Their creators will be present and will describe the backgrounds to their designs.

The evening at PRODOMOwindows is also dedicated to the series of events initiated by prodomo, "Design Connects". It is a platform aimed at bringing the industry together with designers, architects, companies and private customers along with journalists.
